Life in Quarantine: WEEK EIGHT/NINE

Ok; combining 2 weeks into 1 post has been much more manageable! What can I say about quarantine at this point? It’s getting old pretty quickly, but we are still finding little magical moments that make it less painful. We’ve opened our bubble up to include my mom & in-laws who are all quarantining as well, and it’s been SO nice to be around family again. There’s nothing very notable to say here this week. This is all becoming pretty normal, I guess. We are still staying away from stores & sanitizing deliveries. We haven’t had take out in over 2 months which is pretty insane. At some point, we’ll have to relax and just go for it, but honestly I’m cool here for a little longer. Here are some highlights of our week!

  • Bubbles, sidewalk chalk, and popsicles have been the official sponsors of Mills Quarantine 2020! We’ve been spending so much time outside & they’ve been a godsend! Maddie dropped her popsicle & as it began to melt, she began to cry. Grayson raced over and began sharing his with her. In return, Maddie picked up a piece of her melted popsicle to offer Grayson. It was the SWEETEST sibling exchange I’ve witnessed. They seriously love each other SO much.

  • Mother’s Day was great! I got to sleep in (of course, so did Maddie for the first time like, ever. Lucky Ian). The kids (and Ian) made me homemade cards, and my favorite breakfast. Later in the day, my boys made me brownies & I brought some over to my mom to share. We chatted for awhile & looked at old photos. When I got home, we ate charcuterie while the kids jumped in their bouncy. It was a great day!

  • We have so many nests in our tree! I’ve counted 3 hummingbird nests, although I’m sure we have more… they’re so hard to find! Our Cooper’s Hawk is gone (thank goodness!) but I think the young hawk(s) hung around because I hear them from time to time. We are noticing so many more birds, insects, & butterflies than ever before. Slowing down has been absolutely amazing for our family.

  • Maddie has started coloring and it warms my heart because Grayson was never really into coloring. She sits like such a big girl at the table & I just stare at her while she carefully selects which crayon she wants to use. My kids are SO different!

  • Grayson has been very into tools lately. He’s a big “help” around the house! He carries around his box of tools all day; it’s so cute. He even helped daddy build our new planter!

  • We painted our dining room wall! It’s been something I’ve wanted to do since we moved in 2.5 years ago, and I am so glad we finally got the chance. It was a sage green, but we painted it navy blue (Sherwin Williams Naval) & I’m in loooove. We also repainted the inside of the fireplace, which needed it BADLY. I can’t wait to finish the rest of the fireplace & redecorate.

  • We started a verrrry small garden. Just a few plants, but I’m excited! I’m the new proud mama of 3 houseplants, and I’m loving learning more about gardening & plant care. Maybe I won’t kill these?
