Life in Quarantine: WEEK SIX/SEVEN
Oh man; all these weeks are blurring together, aren’t they?! I was late uploading photos 2 weeks ago, which made me late with week 6, so here’s a combo post for week 6 and 7. I can’t believe we’ve been “socially distanced” for almost 2 months. Here are some highlights from the past couple of weeks!
We’ve been playing outside for HOURS every day. The water table has gotten a ton of new use, and the kids have gone swimming or jumping in the bounce house daily. I was totally dive bombed by our Cooper’s Hawk while I was trying to photograph it. Unfortunately I hadn’t hit record on the video. I’m telling you, it would’ve gone viral. I made eye contact with it. Shortly after, a fledgeling came flying out of the nest. It was SO cool to see. I forgave its dad for dive bombing me. I’ll be sad when they’re all officially gone (we still hear them in the tree) but I’ll also be a little relieved, as that dive bomb was terrifying!
I made a busy binder for Grayson awhile back. It’s full of various letter matching & tracing activities. He’s not a huge fan of learning stuff he doesn’t care about (who is, right?) so I tried to make each page match his interests. Lots of animals, pirates, favorite foods, etc. He LOVES it & it’s already improving his letter recognition!
Daddy & Grayson caught a grasshopper outside. I’m not a huge fan; they can jump WAY too far for my liking. But it was cool to see up close in the bug catcher. We let it go at the end of the evening & it hopped away.
I’ve made a couple PlayDoh trays for Grayson. They’re also called “invitations to play". The first one was jungle-themed & a big hit. I also did a fun, glittery Trolls themed one. They’re fun to put together & I love watching Grayson use his imagination to create worlds!
We’ve been doing Circle Time with Miss Monica on YouTube every morning. Grayson & Maddie both love it & sit somewhat patiently for the whole thing. The songs get stuck in my head, but I absolutely love Miss Monica!
Snails & more snails again this week. UGH. I’m starting a garden soon & these guys are going to have to find a new home!
We set up an outdoor movie/campfire night last week. Once Maddie was in bed, we snuck out and watched Ratatouille & made s’mores. Grayson had a BLAST and fell asleep in daddy’s arms near the end of the movie.
We made rainbow bubble foam for the water table. Both kids were drenched in bubbles by the end of the evening. It stained our water table, but it was so worth it!
We grilled pork chops & had dinner outside for the first time this year. The kids continue to impress me with their taste buds. Grayson LOVED the crispy brussel sprouts & Maddie ate her weight in watermelon with Tajin. They aren’t always in the mood to eat because they’re typical toddlers, but when they do, they eat well!
